The short answer

This directory has a connector for AI assistants (an MCP server). Give your assistant the address below and it can look up UK clinic fees, prescription products, pharmacies and recent stock reports here, and tell you which page each fact came from. It is free, it only reads, and it needs no account.

How to add it

Claude

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose "Add custom connector".
  3. Give it a name, paste the connector address above, and save.
  4. In a chat, switch the connector on and ask your question.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings and find Connectors (it may be under Apps).
  2. Add a custom connector, sometimes shown as an "MCP server". You may need to switch on developer mode first.
  3. Paste the connector address above. Choose "no authentication".

Assistants change their menus often, and custom connectors may need a paid plan. If yours looks different, search its help pages for "custom connector" or "MCP".

What your assistant can do with it

  • Find clinic fees find_clinic_fees

    List UK medical cannabis clinics with their fees, cheapest first for the first year, plus the lowest, middle and highest across all clinics. Clinic fees only; medication is separate. Use to answer which clinic is cheapest or what a named clinic charges.

  • Search products search_products

    Search the medical cannabis products available on prescription in the UK by brand, prescription name or strain. Returns what is on the label (type, THC, CBD, list price). Does not say which product suits a condition.

  • Check stock check_stock

    For one product, list the UK pharmacies that list it and where patients or pharmacies have reported it in stock in the last 14 days. Reports are unverified.

  • Estimate a first year's cost estimate_yearly_cost

    Work out a first year at a named clinic: its lowest fees, plus medication at list price if the amount on the patient's own prescription is given. Never suggests an amount.

  • Search the directory search

    Search MedCannaIndex for clinics, pharmacies, products, patient guides and condition pages. Returns matching pages with an id to pass to fetch.

  • Fetch one page fetch

    Get one page of MedCannaIndex as plain text, with its web address to cite. Use an id returned by search.

What it will never do

  • It never says which product suits a condition, and never suggests how much to take. That is for your prescribing specialist.
  • It cannot change anything, book anything or buy anything. It only reads what is already public on this site.
  • It asks for no account and keeps no record of who asked. We count how often each tool is used, and nothing else.
  • It does not see your conversation. It receives only the question your assistant sends it, such as a clinic name.
